Three game companies to duke it out in Project Cross Zone

Hey, remember that awesome tactical RPG that brought together characters from Namco and Capcom together in a glorious fight to the finish?

If you don’t, then you’re like most North Americans who didn’t get a chance to see a game like Namco X Capcom reach their shores. Hopefully, a new impending release for the Nintendo 3DS may provide some solace.

Project Cross Zone is a collaboration among a trifecta of game companies. Namco, Capcom, as well as Sega, team up in order to create an action/tactical RPG game reminiscent of Namco X Capcom. The plan seems to bring out the heavy-hitters from each company, with characters like Megaman X and Zero representing Capcom, Akira Yuki and Pai Chan representing Sega’s Virtua Fighter, and KOS-MOS and T-elos backing up Namco Bandai.

Project Cross Zone gameplay seems to revolve around pairs of characters teaming up to perform flashy combos, while navigating the overworld in a tactical grid-like format, much like its predecessor. From what I’ve seen of Namco X Capcom, it feels like its going to be very much like the Super Robot Taisen series, which is all shades of exciting.

Project Cross Zone already boasts an impressive lineup of characters old and new, so all that’s left is to hope that this newest iteration makes it over stateside.
