Soon Serenade was destined to be the greatest musical game you’d never heard of. And according to a report from game development forum Develop, the game was cancelled due to a “complete lack of interest.”
The silver lining in all of this? Soon Serenade’s developer, Ransom Binary, decided to release the soundtrack for the musical role-playing game for free. The music pulls out all the stops as one would expect for a musical RPG. A twinge of cheese, but epic and inspiring nonetheless. The soundtrack composer lamented that this would be his last project and, “it’s a lousy way to go out.”
Though it sounds like a crap way to go, it seems this is an interesting look into niche indie titles. It also proves that Broadway no longer rules the world. Not completely anyway.
