Shovel Knight promised for Wii U & 3DS if successfully funded

While Yacht Club Games surprised us with its reveal of its PC, 8-bit-stylized sidescroller Shovel Knight, it looks like some more surprises are in store, with the newest announcement revealing that the game is planned for 3DS and Wii U as well.

The indie developer hasn’t forgotten about Nintendo fans, so that’s why they’re promising releases for both of those platforms if the game is successfully funded. A $15+ donation secures a supporter with his or her choice of a PC, Wii U or 3DS download code. A $10 donation will only guarantee backers a PC digital copy, with the team explaining that the added cost is due to the costs required for Nintendo’s development kits, in addition to creating specific uses for the GamePad and 3DS, not to mention that every download code distributed requires an extra fee from Nintendo.

This is no doubt an exciting prospect for those who were hoping to have the game on the go (or give themselves another reason to own a Wii U). As of this writing, Yacht Club is at $28,721 out of $75,000, with 1,212 backers. Who’s sold on this now?
