[UPDATE: We received official word from Ubisoft’s Alex Monney regarding the delay. You can check it out in the story below.]
Sorry to have to burst your bubble, but that Scott Pilgrim DLC you were looking forward to tomorrow will have to wait some more.
Ubisoft revealed that the long-anticipated online multiplayer and Wallace Wells content was delayed “for fine-tuning and to incorporate feedback from the passionate Scott Pilgrim community.”
“Ubisoft is addressing feedback from the community on the best ways to honor retro games in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game DLC in an accurate and respectful manner,” the company said in its official statement. “Ubisoft, and the new team developing the DLC, respect creative properties and, of course, want to be sure to deliver a game experience that is a proper tribute to the Scott Pilgrim franchise.”
It also sounds like a bit of retooling is being applied so as to not infringe on any IPs. This is evident after a tumblr blog revealed that one of Wallace Wells’ animation sets seems to have been ripped straight out of Sega’s GBA title Sonic Battle.
Yep, better change that animation lest you want to cause problems. Let’s hope we won’t have to wait too long.
