[RUMOR] The Simpsons Arcade Game finally making its way to consoles

simpsons_0002

As a kid, you might have wondered why the heck the Konami’s 1991 beat-em-up arcade classic The Simpsons Arcade Game never saw a port on SNES or Genesis. Well, it looks like that long-overdue console release is finally happening, if the Australian Classification Board has anything to say about it.

The classification page details an entry for The Simpsons Arcade Game, with developer Backbone Entertainment listed as author and Konami listed as publisher. You may know Backbone Entertainment as the company that tears at your nostalgic heartstrings with suped-up re-releases such as Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection and X-Men.

While the page gives no word as to when or where the game will hit, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it on both Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Get excited and don your Bartman costumes.
