Patricia Wagon returns in a Mighty Switch Force sequel

Mighty Switch Force 2 is totally happening sometime this year.

The sequel to the fantastic 3DS 2011 puzzle platformer was revealed to be in development by WayForward’s designer Austin Ivansmith during Destructoid’s Jonathan Holmes’ livestream show, “Sup Holmes?” Patricia Wagon will return as the protagonist, sporting a “surprise career change.” Aside from a title announcement there’s not much in the way of details, but to celebrate the announcement, WayForward is selling the HD version of the original on Wii U for $4.99.

Back at MAGfest, I attended Mighty Switch Force composer Jake “virt” Kaufman’s chiptune show where he played music from “an unannounced game.” I realize now that I was hearing some of the music to Mighty Switch Force 2. What a tease.

The game is scheduled for a Q1 or Q2 release this year. At this point it’s uncertain whether it’ll be just for 3DS or carry over to the Wii U as well. For more info, we’ll just have to sit tight.
