GameStop cancels all Northeast Assassin’s Creed III events

Sorry kids, if you were looking to tuck into a rousing round of Assassin’s Creed III with the rain pattering (or slamming depending on the location) at your window, looks like you might have to wait.

According to a Facebook post on the GameStop page, fans were notified that all “stores in the path of Hurricane Sandy will remain closed until it is safe to re-open and midnight openings for Assassin’s Creed III have been cancelled in the northeast. Customers should check with their local stores for details on when we will re-open.”

A source at GameStop confirmed the closings in Jersey and even mentioned that their store had been closed all day. It’s a good call for retail–while we know that everyone would be willing to wait outside in a hurricane and shriek for joy, let’s let Mother Nature win this round.
