Dead Island Riptide shambling to shelves on April 23

Just when you thought the zombie craze might finally be done to death in games, Deep Silver announced that Dead Island Riptide will be shambling its way onto shelves on April 23.

Following last year’s successful release of Dead Island, this next game in the franchise puts players back in the thick of things on Palanai Island. The zombie threat is still as present as ever and it’s up to you and your buddies to put them down.

Preorders for the “not-quite-a-sequel” have already begun nationwide. Those that plunk down a little cash in advance toward the game will get an “exclusive pack of weapon mods.” Specific retailers will also get a special character skin, though details on that are scarce at the moment.

Will you be picking this up when it comes out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC? Let us know in the comments.
