CD Projekt RED’s new RPG is officially ‘Cyberpunk 2077′


CD Projekt RED held a press conference today in which it revealed Cyberpunk 2077 as the official name of its upcoming RPG set in the universe of the PnP game Cyberpunk 2020.

The Poland-based developer promises that the game “will be true to the essence of the cyberpunk genre.” The game is planned to have a mature and multi-threaded, nonlinear storyline that will take place in a metropolis called Night City. Locations from the PnP game, such as a combat zone completely controlled by gangs like Afterlife and Forlorn Hope will also feature in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 aims to be a sandbox-styled game that will feature various customization for the player’s character, including a vast array of weaponry ranging from guns, rifles, implants, and other sorts of futuristic gadgetry.

The studio has yet to show any sort of in-game footage or screenshots, but some interesting concept art featuring the game’s logo, an attack copter, and a bloodied, sparsely-clothed bionic chick (check the screenshots page for all of that).
